Uploading Files to a Web Server Using FTP

FTP or File Transfer Protocol is as the name implies just a set of rules by with we can communicate with a web server when we want to transfer files to it. The "Protocol" are the rules we need to follow.

Now in practice, FTP clients come in all shapes and sizes. In fact a number of programs have them built in.

One example is Dreamweaver which has a built in FTP client to easily upload the files you create. There are occasions though where you need to add additional files, modify permissions or perform an upgrade where you might like to use a separate FTP client to view and upload files to your file server.
