Last night, I decided to add an SSL certificate to my web site (http://www.markbuhagiar.com). The reason I did it was to secure certain parts of my site against the possblility of somebody evesdropping on anyone of my clients filling out a form.

Now I will tell you from the outset the chances of anyone going to the trouble of spying on a site is limited but if you collect sensitive information such as credit card details then this is something you must do even if all you are doing is passing the data to a payment processor.
